FAQs

MOST FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

+ Where is my order?

All orders are tracked, so the first thing to do is check your dispatch confirmation email from us, click on the tracking link and that should tell you where your order is. If the order is delayed (in relation to the typical delivery times mentioned below) or there’s another issue, please don’t hesitate to contact us (hello@marvellousmaps.com). We don’t get any more information than what’s available to you on the tracking link, but rest assured we’ll do all we can to help.

+ I've ordered the wrong map. Can I exchange it?

Yes, absolutely - just get in touch to let us know and we’ll talk you through the steps (hello@marvellousmaps.com). Please DON'T attempt to send the map back to us before we've been in touch - we’ll let you know what to do!

+ Why doesn’t the discount code doesn't work?

Probably because you haven’t typed it in properly. We’re not being cheeky, honest! It’s just that, after hearing that question several hundred times, in the large majority of cases it turns out that the code hasn’t been entered correctly. Remember - always paste the code if you can avoid typing it in! Failing that, check the discount terms - they generally require a minimum spend or number of items in order to qualify. Failing that, drop us a line at hello@marvellousmaps.com.

+ Do you do a map specifically on XYZ?

If it’s not on the website, then no. The Marvellous Maps range is pretty small so it doesn’t take too long to browse the titles. There’s also a list of titles further below. We are always keen to hear suggestions for new maps, so if you have an idea you’d like to share, please let us know at hello@marvellousmaps.com.

+ Can you deliver to Europe / America?

We can deliver to most places with a recognised address, but there are two exceptions: we cannot currently deliver to Europe (EEA) due to post-Brexit tax / tarriff complications, and we generally only deliver framed maps to UK addresses. If in doubt, please ask.

+ What are the publication dates for each map and when are the maps updated?

Great British Adventure Map, 2nd edition: 2022 (1st edition originally published 2017)
Great British Place Names Map: 2018
Great British Music Map: 2018
Great British Food & Drink Map: 2019
Great British Film & TV Map: 2019
Great British Literature Map: 2020
Great British Map of Wonders: 2020
Great British Folklore & Superstition Map: 2020
Great British History Map: 2021
Great British Wildlife & Environment Map: 2021
Great British Bucket List Map: 2022

The timing of updates / new editions depends on a number of factors. Most of the information on our maps is slow-changing or never-changing, but one or two maps, such as those with food & drink businesses or festivals, may feature locations that are no longer open. We are currently looking at an update schedule and will provide details here as soon as the plan becomes clear.

Our maps cover Britain (England, Scotland and Wales), not the UK (England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland). This follows the approach of the respective Ordnance Survey organisations. The one exception is the Isle of Man (a crown dependency, not part of Britain), but we choose to include it on our maps because of its proximity.

+ Do all of the places on your Great British Place Names Map actually exist? Are you really telling me you’ve not made them up?

Yes, all locations on our Great British Place Names Map are 100% bona fide, genuine and authentic. You simply couldn't make some of them up.

No. We include the main cities, towns and key geographical areas / features on the ‘base map’ to help readers orientate themselves, but we generally try to keep any clutter to a minimum so that the map best represents its topic in the available space. Counties and administrative areas are often complex or confusing as they come in different classifications, so we generally don’t include those unless relevant to a specific map’s topic.

+ Which map is best if visiting London, or which map has the most suggestions for London?

The Great British Bucket List Map has the widest selection of locations for London, whereas the other maps only feature locations in London that are relevant for their specific topic. The Map of Wonders has a few suggestions for kids but many of those are on the Bucket List Map too.

+ Can we send close ups of specific parts of the maps?

Not unless you’re a journalist / editor featuring Marvellous Maps in your publication. If you’ve already checked out the limited close-ups of the maps on our website, that's about all we can offer visually. If you have a specific question about a specific map, we’ll do our best to get back to you quickly with an answer, but we can’t send specific close-up images of the maps.

+ DO YOU CHARGE VAT?

All prices include VAT where applicable. Our VAT registration number is 258 1114 20.
